Our Mission “Education is not the filling of a pail, But the lighting of a fire.” -- W.B. Yeats
Our goal for college, boarding and private school placement is to find an optimal educational choice that uniquely fits the student’s needs based on test results, prior academic performance and possible future career choices as well as the family’s pocketbook. Our goal for students with learning disabilities is to place them in programs or schools that will enable them to develop skills and strategies that will effectively prepare them for ultimately taking on responsibility for their educational needs by themselves. Our goal for teens with special needs is to place them in safe programs that can effectively diagnose and treat their issues in a humane and dignified manner and provide an environment conducive to emotional motivational and relational healing. We ultimately strive to place these teens in programs that will lead them to successful performance in mainstream educational and vocational programs.
The primary focus in all of our offerings is providing the right set of options for our students. We place the child’s needs and potential for success as our top priority and on occasion have to stress these parameters to parents whose expectations may stem from another point of view or interest. |

Established in 1998 by Claire and Chip Law Educational Avenues offers comprehensive educational consulting and is located in Rhode Island and South Carolina. It delivers customized services to US and International students seeking academic placement in the following major areas: · High school to college · Boarding school to college · Public school to private or boarding school · Public school to programs specializing in learning disabilities · International placement into US boarding schools and colleges · Direct placement in intervention programs for troubled teens · Wilderness Programs · Therapeutic/Emotional Growth Boarding Schools · Residential Treatment Centers
Each of these placement options is discussed in detail in the appropriate section of this website. For each placement we employ the Educational Avenues Process™ which provides an in-depth set of assessments as well as extensive interviews with the student and parents in person. We conduct a needs-analysis to evaluate the affordability of various colleges for the family. When children have learning disabilities, we evaluate the psycho-educational evaluation or may recommend specific testing so that we may get to the core of the child’s cognitive and emotional functioning. After this extensive review, we present parents with ideal placement options for their child. For college-bound students, we make sure that parents identify the key roles that they want education to play in their child’s life. These expectations are clarified with both students and parents, then properly reflected and addressed.
The world of education is constantly changing and we at Educational Avenues are committed to keeping our families informed about the latest issues and how these may affect them. We publish tips, articles and findings of note on a regular basis, so be sure to explore our Articles page to keep up to date with the latest in the field of education. |
